Alex’s team drives learning gains through innovative design and high impact execution of our educational model for both the Acelero Network and Shine Early Learning’s Assist and Implement partners. Prior to joining Acelero, Alex was the Global Curriculum Director for Early Childhood Education at Bridge International Academies where his team delivered breakthrough language, literacy, and numeracy outcomes for children in over 500 neighborhood academies across five countries. Before joining Bridge, Alex led strategic initiatives for Denver Public Schools and Teach For America’s national office. Before that, he coached beginning teachers for Teach For America in Houston. Alex got his start in education as a volunteer, tutoring children and providing Spanish-English interpretation for parent-teacher conferences. He was a classroom teacher for five years in the Houston Independent School District and in KIPP: Houston, where he was a founding teacher in the KIPP network’s first early childhood and primary school. Alex holds a doctorate in education leadership from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a master’s degree in bilingual and ESL education from the University of Saint Thomas. Alex is fluent in Spanish, conversant in Portuguese, and knows just enough Kiswahili to make East Africans smile. He lives with his wife, two children, and their dog, Oshi.
