Executive Chair / Co-Founder, Acelero Learning & Shine Early Learning - Phoenix, AZ
Aaron has a strong track record of entrepreneurial successes in the social sector. After graduating from Yale, Aaron became a Head Start teacher and founded Jumpstart, an organization which pairs college students with preschoolers to develop literacy, language and social skills. What began as an idea in Aaron’s dorm room went on to become a national organization and leader in early childhood education; today Jumpstart engages 4,000 college students in service to nearly 15,000 children in 20 states and the District of Columbia, and more than 75 communities across the country. While at Jumpstart, Aaron founded and served as Chair of Schoolsuccess.net, a venture-backed for-profit spin off of Jumpstart that created the first online versions of the High/Scope COR and Creative Curriculum’s Developmental Continuum. He founded Acelero Learning in 2001 and helped develop its programmatic approach, working side by side with Head Start leadership teams from Acelero Learning’s first management contract partners. Aaron served as Acelero Learning's first Head Start director, eventually overseeing services for over 4,000 children and families, served in 36 centers across three states. Children in Acelero Learning's Head Start program consistently make gains at more than twice the national average. Aaron now leads Shine Early Learning, which is focused on disseminating Acelero Learning's tools and approaches to other early childhood education providers. Shine Early Learning products are used by over 100 Head Start Programs serving 100,000 children across the country.
